Single: Kid Sistr – Maniac

The huge chorus, with its stadium-ready refrain, feels pleasingly cathartic, but it leaves you wanting more.

Kid Sistr have been around for nearly a decade, cultivating a loyal following along the way. Gigging virtually since day one, they’ve built an impressive fanbase – and have racked up millions of streams.

Well, the LA-based indie pop-rock trio have just released their second single of 2026 – ‘Maniac’ – and it’s their most irresistible track in quite some time.

The band say ‘Maniac’ can be used as an emergency intervention for when your friend keeps getting back together with that guy. It’s the soundtrack to finally dumping him and swearing off men forever. The lyrics certainly do get straight to the point!

“Sharpie marker on your white Mercedes
You told everyone I’m crazy
But what else was I supposed to do”

The vocal melody is as catchy as a catcher’s mitt, and Sabel Englert has never sounded better, showcasing a sultry, warm tone – even in those higher, louder sections. I loved the slight tinge of country in those delicate verses, too.

It’s a really cohesive sound – a slow rolling beast, with everything creeping forward as one. Drums crisp and minimalistic, guitars subtle and wide – until they’re not. The sparse arrangement is perfectly judged and lets the song speak for itself.

The huge chorus, with its blistering guitars and stadium-ready refrain, feels like a cathartic release, and it leaves you wanting more, because – after just 150 seconds – it’s all over.

With a single as strong as this, and an EP due in May (pre-save it here), I have no doubt Kid Sistr will be able to replace that missing E on their keyboard very soon.
