A bit like a poppier, more commercially-minded Swiss Portrait or Western Jaguar, Jack Landess’ new tune is a shimmering indie pop masterpiece.
Perfectly paced and incredibly produced (also the responsibility of the multi-talented singer songwriter), Everytime is an exemplary piece of pop rock.
Originally from Springfield, Ohio, and now based in the music capital of America – Nashville, Tennessee – Jack has accumulated over 4 million streams across various platforms, and, taking his most recent tune as an example of his work, it’s not hard to imagine why. Clocking in at a very neat three minutes and eighteen seconds, it bounces along from verse to chorus to verse with gently bubbling arty instrumental stretches appearing throughout. Twinkly guitars are peppered over the top of ambient atmospheric layers, and everything is stitched together intricately to keep us intrigued, captivated, and compelled.
The song’s sentiment is incredibly sweet. A love song in the most traditional sense of the word, the artist tells us that the song is “about just wanting the love of my life, Jane, to be with me just as she is. Bringing forth both the hard times and the great times, I just need her at her core”.
We’re not crying, you are.
