Single: Bleached Moon – Horrors of Infinity

With tonnes of character, anthemic and stratospheric instrumentation, and matching lyrical moments, you can’t help but enjoy this powerful new rock tune.

With tonnes of musical character not too dissimilar to old school bands like Millencoin and The Used but with a new era twist more in line with acts like Turnstile and Western Jaguar, it’s safe to say that Canadian singer-songwriter Bleached Moon is in good company.

The solo project of Tragic Hearts lead singer and guitarist Dean Drouchard, he has released two singles under the new moniker.

“Horrors of Infinity” is even stronger than the prior track (“Burn”, which is also very good and well worth checking out). The aforementioned character is equalled by formidable rock musicality; each part of the song feels like it strikes just the right balance, with the powerful bass guitar being the particular standout.

Lyrically, it’s a high-concept piece built around inspiration taken from a book that Drouchard read. He explains: “This song was written after I read the book Bright Objects by Ruby Todd. The book follows a widow in her late twenties in rural Australia during the ’80s”. We won’t give away too much about what goes on to happen, but suffice it to say that a suicidal cult is founded against the backdrop of an impending apocalypse. Sounds good!

It certainly has made for impressive inspo. The song is full of anthemic, stratospheric instrumentation and matching lyrical moments, and — like the willing members of the aforementioned cult — you can’t help but feel like this track is something awe-inspiring, transcendental, and hopeful. Go on, drink the Kool-Aid and enjoy.
