My attention was piqued straight away by the opening of Indecision’s newest release, ‘Draw Me Under’. Following along from their highly-acclaimed ‘Vol. 1’ EP, the guitars are fierce and cutting edge as they power the track with their heavy riffs and hooks.
Grungy solos carry the song before the drums pierce through, helping to add to the understated complexity of the song and making me dig it even more than I already do.
The tune feels familiar. Indecision isn’t reinventing the wheel or changing the landscape of music just yet, but at the same time, they’ve managed to produce a track that stands out in the competitive world of music, where everyone is vying for your attention, which is commendable. They’ve taken something and turned it into their own, which is already impressive but made even more so by the fact that the band is so young.
The passion that’s been put forward on this is evident, the sheer emotion behind it all, with lyrics like “I’ve died 1,000 times” manages to make the song 10x better than it already is (a task which I didn’t think was possible.)
‘Draw Me Under’ acts as perfect symbolism for the smack in the face that we sometimes all need – a void getting so caught up in the now that you forget to remember how far you’ve already come. Powerful, right? To top this message off, the Bristol band decided to record this live, which, I think, greatly improves the track. It feels like you’re just at the gig; the beauty and thrill of experiencing a song live is like no other, yet the song is able to capture this.
My first impression of the band, ‘Draw Me Under’, makes it hard not to immediately fall in love with them. High-octane, it’s fun, fresh and thrilling, leaving me very interested to see what direction the band takes in the future.
