Portland DIY projects, Hugo Skavez, and Sanctuary City, teamed up to put out this straightforward DIY rap/ alternative and punk song demanding ICE get the fuck out of our cities. Paired with the song is a music video with a hand-drawn comic book that chronicles several slightly fictionalized encounters with ICE agents.
While the song is straightforward, the rhythm is nice, and the lyrics send messages. This isn’t just a short single verse repeated, not that there is an issue with that. The song is a reminder that we must rise together, and we will outlast these raids, and we must stand united against the abduction of our neighbors by a fascist regime that puts armed men on our streets and tries to turn us against one another.
This is probably the best constructed song I’ve heard from Hugo Skavez or Sanctuary City. It’s definitely best consumed on YouTube, where you can take in the comic book at the same time.
Remember, I C E G T F O. Stand with your neighbors, not with the armed and masked men that invade your community to break it apart.
