We have introduced this band, Honey I’m Home, on our blog before, so if you have been following us for some time, you might have read these pieces. They have been gaining quite a buzz; they have even performed with Girl in Red and other more well-known artists. They are known for their live performances, as evidenced by their live recordings. They have not only been searching for inspiration in music, but also in VHS horror, Super 8, and dark fantasy, as I mentioned in my coverage of their live set.
“Insecure” is their latest offering, and it continues to be shoegaze alternative rock with explosive melodies and overwhelming energy. They even shared with us the central theme of the song:
“Insecure” is a song about the notion that carefree innocence doesn’t exist. The song captures the desire to exist more freely without fear, in a world dominated by men.
This band is part of one of the most exciting discoveries this year. I have been listening to their music on repeat, and the sheer energy it conveys is just mesmerizing. I have even goosebumps when I blast this in my headphones. I really like the shifts between softer, emotive alt-rock and heavy melodic shoegaze. I would love to see this live, and I would bet this must be magical and atmospheric.
I mentioned in some recent coverage that when it comes to shoegaze tracks, I always need lyrics so I can follow them more easily. Also, for non-native speakers, it is much easier to navigate a song when lyrics are provided.
Either way, I have been getting lost in this song for some time now and have been enjoying it very much. I don’t know whether the band is working on an EP or an album. Still, the music they have been making is, and I am sure they will get a lot of recognition not only in Europe.
In the meantime, you will find me bathing in the shoegaze ‘sun(sound)rays’ of this stunning single.
