On Saturday, March 28, 2026, several million Americans gathered at over 3,000 locations across the United States for the third iteration of a series of rallies under the name of No Kings: A call to the end of policies in the United States where the executive branch is expanding its authority; where judges and politicians are expected to be loyalists to the President as opposed acting as checks and balances and advisers; where the President is attempting to end term limits, openly discussing redrawing districts to ensure his party wins more power, and removing term limits to keep himself in power for longer.
To honor this third rally, and keeping in the theme of “No Kings”, Holy Schnikes! released a new song titled “Dear Mr President” and also announced an upcoming album, Living in the End Times. No additional information about the album has been released. The single was released initially as a lyric video on YouTube, but will hit streaming services soon. The goal of this was clearly because they want the message to be as accessible as possible.
The song is sung by Marilyn Monroe to President JFK and is, strangely, a birthday song… Hold on… Apparently I clicked the wrong video, one second… Oh, ok, this makes sense. Never mind. The song is appropriately about President Trump, and begins with the line “Donald Trump is a Nazi”, so it’s clear that the track is going to be direct and in your face.
The song leads in with a faster, aggressive punk theme, heavy on the cymbals, and with a solid horn line that feels very consistent with third wave ska punk. Listeners might associate those sharp, aggressive punchy lines with bands like Reel Big Fish or Less Than Jake.
The verses ends with the line “The American Dream has died, so welcome to Hell”, which is a theme throughout the song. The chorus ends with the lines “He’s not the first and he won’t be the last, we cant be destroyed by this fucking dumbass”. Speaking of the chorus, it has a really nice call and response where the backing vocals sing “Fuck Donald Trump” before the lead shouts appropriate descriptors about Trump; this pattern repeats. It makes it easy for us to sing along, which appears to be the primary purpose of the lyric video.
While most of the song is led by the bass guitar, the bridge features what can only be described as a bitchin’ rock and roll guitar solo that leads to a slowed down, drumless, hornless, quietly optimistic verse that promises a future where we, as a society, care about our neighbors and protect each other. Predictably, that ends with “But until that day comes…” and bursts back into the chorus. The call and response for the final chorus was less about Trump, but about us. We need to stand up, we need to be strong, we need to right every single wrong! It’s not about going to the polls in 2028. It’s not about voting for the right candidate. As the song says, he won’t be the last.
But we need to focus our attention on righting the wrongs: Protecting our neighbors; fighting for our trans brothers and sisters; fighting for real immigration reform where everyone has a voice; tearing down borders, not putting up walls; ending mass incarceration, mass surveillance, and the police state; protecting access to abortion and full and complete health care; making sure we don’t have people struggling with homelessness; building communities where we are there for our neighbors and politicians can’t come in and strip us of our rights.
Fuck Donald Trump. But he wasn’t the first and he wont be the last. Watch the video for “Dear Mister President” below.
