Are you a fan of jangle-punk sensation Beach Bunny and 90s alt rock? Then we have good news for you. The band’s guitarist, Anthony Vaccaro, has been cooking up a killer solo project under the pseudonym Helicopter Leaves since 2023, and his latest release is hitting all the right notes.
Vaccaro takes off at full speed on this new single, kicking up a sound that’s full of energy and brimming with nostalgia. Heavy on the distortion but easy on the ears, “What’s One More Place?” calls on the irresistible charm of garage-rock greats like Smashing Pumpkins and Dinosaur Jr. while maintaining that fresh indie-pop feel. It’s fast, it’s loud, and it sounds like something your cool uncle would listen to.
In case you need one more reason to be excited for this upcoming album, it was recorded at Electrical Audio, the studio of legendary producer, Steve Albini. The spirits of the many giants who have graced that equipment certainly live on in this track. There is weight to that, and Vaccaro has proven that he can handle it.
Helicopter Leaves’ latest album, Sabrina Nickels, is out March 27. If its first two singles are any indication, it is bound to be something special. Take a listen to “What’s One More Place” below.
