Single: earth moon transit – Star

“Uncompromising in their approach, earth moon transit make noise rock for the faint at heart. Shoegazy walls of sound intertwined with frail folk, krautrock-jams and Pavement-esque rock, their sound is familiar, yet new.

earth moon transit is a four-piece collective from Trondheim, Norway. Since their debut at Trondheim Calling in 2019, they’ve shared the stage with artists like Hilma Nikolaisen, Hey Gloria, Mall Girl and Kongle, and the likes of Line of Best Fit have praised their “frenetic, vital live energy”

A short bio introducing a Norwegian band that I’ve just discovered for the first time. It’s been a while since I’ve delved into music from Norway, and it’s always a treat to explore sounds from the Northern part of Europe. What makes this find even more exciting is that it falls under the slowcore genre, which has been a personal favorite of mine lately.

Their latest single is a preview of their upcoming debut album slated for release in March 2025. The single is also available on a DIY 7″ that you can purchase on the band’s Bandcamp page. The new track has a post-shoegaze vibe with hints of slacker rock, but it’s the captivating slowcore atmosphere that resonated with me the most. If you hadn’t told me they were from Norway, I wouldn’t have guessed. They can compete easily with all the slowcore bands coming from the States.

I’ve had the single on repeat, immersing myself in its mesmerizing melody and dreamy vocals. It’s a fantastic song, and I’m already eager for the release of their new album. This single holds the promise of an album we can all look forward to.

I have been also immersed in the lyrics:

Up above, between it all
The town’s weak light is leaking through the clouds
Faint sounds of a time that’s gone

A sanguine wind is rolling in
Takes ahold of you, and drags you to the shore
Where the waves’ve been before
Look up, and see a moving star

The silence breaks, believe it’s nigh
But even I can’t block the passage to the isle
It’s mandatory that we die
