Channeling the inimitable folk of José González and Peter Broderick (complete with requisite euro-centric slant), Dutch singer/songwriter David & The Circumstances (David Groeneweg) returns with his new single Sunrise.
After taking a break from releasing music under his own name to travel and pursue other musical projects, David follows up his well-received 2015 album This Part Of Me with a string of singles taken from his forthcoming album.
Sunrise is the most recently released track and is a gentle, reflective, meditative piece centred around expertly realised fingerpicking, subtle electric guitars, softly sung words, and ambient sounds.
In the words of the artist himself, this song is about “making a challenging journey and coming back home to a renewed sense of appreciation for the world after a period of inner turmoil. It’s a contemplative and hopeful song. I was inspired to write it during a road trip when we were driving along the coast of California.”
We’ll look forward to hearing the album in December.
