Single: CIAO MALZ – Two Feet Tall

CIAO MALZ’s latest single, “Two Feet Tall,” is a poignant exploration of stagnation and the shrinking feeling that comes with unresolved emotions. The Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist delivers a track that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. Inspired by the weight of avoiding the calls you know you need to make and the emotional clutter that builds in their absence, the song perfectly encapsulates the tension between one’s inner self and the relentless motion of the outside world. Reminding all of us, once again, that nothing ever stops.

With influences like Elliott Smith, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Men I Trust, CIAO MALZ impressively blends muted indie pop and bedroom pop elements. The soft, repetitive strumming of the guitar is hypnotic while the easy, sing-along chorus makes “Two Feet Tall” instantly memorable. MALZ’s evocative lyrics—”I’ve been feeling two, two feet tall / I’ve already heard, heard it all”— showcases a vulnerability and a longing for connection that many will resonate with. The collaboration with James Chrisman, who co-produced and played guitar, and Felix Walworth on drums, adds a textured depth to the track, making it intimate and expansive.

As the first single ahead of her upcoming EP, Safe Then Sorry, “Two Feet Tall” sets the tone for what promises to be a collection of deeply reflective and emotionally stirring songs. MALZ’s ability to turn universal struggles into melodic storytelling is truly remarkable. I cannot wait to see what CIAO MALZ has in store for us with her upcoming EP.
