After playing live for 3 years and building an enthusiastic following, Bristol-based band Chasing Dolls recently released their first full single, ‘Cobweb’.
This single is about trying to remain comforted in different emotions. Your mind acts as the spider, carefully spinning a safe space to catch and harvest your thoughts.
A clean, intricate guitar part gives way to a wonderful explosion of jagged, razor-like guitars and a beautifully distinctive hook that makes its mark in just a few notes, riding the groove perfectly.
When the vocals come in, they set this track apart with a frighteningly raw, gravelly tone and tortured, pained cries. There’s an extreme dark smokiness which makes this a singular vocal talent that has to be heard to be believed!
You seized the dream and made a web in your mind
Catching everything flying around your head.
It all adds up to a truly electrifying sound, and from the first bar it’s clear that the energy and excitement of the band’s legendary live performances have been captured brilliantly here. The drums crash and rattle, the bass pulsates, and the whole thing feels unstoppable.
When the bridge takes things down, awash with distortion and hushed vocals, it’s just a matter of time before things build back up. Like a patient spider, the track stalks us, and when that show-stopping motif returns for the final time, it feels totally euphoric – and we are left hopelessly tangled in its web.
