The new single from Charlie & Margot, “In a Glass”, released on June 1, 2024, opens with a powerful and wonderfully fun and energetic chord progression that launches us into the vocals. When we get to the chorus, we’re treated with a captivating vocal melody and guitar riff that is reminiscent, to me, of other songs that I’ve loved in the past. The first one I though of was “idc” by Dear Seattle – both of these songs have such a strong summery energy to them, and “In a Glass” does something that not a lot of songs can accomplish. This track takes that summery feeling and boosts it, giving it this feeling that is simultaneously nostalgic and extremely current, creating this dream-like quality, sending you into your memories while also reminding you that the moment that you’re in is going to be a memory, too, someday.
