Single: Capulets – In A Dream (Demo)

In A Dream kickstarts the Capulets’ journey and leaves me curious to see where they’ll go next.

Brand new band Capulets explode onto the Glasgow music scene with their first release, ‘In A Dream’. Having already played in other bands before, it’s clear to see that these youngsters know how to use each other’s strengths to craft brilliant tunes.

Starting the song off with a bang is lead guitarist Caleb O’Hagan. Giving‘In A Dream’ its trademark infectiousness with his jangly riffs and catchy hooks, it’s impossible not to become drawn into the song, eagerly awaiting to hear what comes next. Then, Ross Mullen’s drums come snaking in. They’re fun, striking, and build the solid backbone upon which the tracks sit.

Dancing around the theme of love, “you’re my valentine / I’m gonna bring you home”, ‘In A Dream’ marks itself as a heartwarming debut and is an excellent listen ahead of February 14th!

They haven’t gone overboard with the track, but they don’t need to. Everything works well together, making for an easy listen that you find yourself coming back to again and again. For what increasingly feels like a rare occurrence, it’s nice to hear bands stripping it back to basics and going down the more old-school route. Speaking of, there’s a slight Britpop edge to the teen band, think along the lines of Oasis or early Arctic Monkeys, which lends itself toLuca Quigley’s vocals and the simplistic but nonetheless fantastic bass lines that course throughout.

Despite being so young and only their first song, ‘In A Dream’ kickstarts the Capulets’ journey and leaves me curious to see where they’ll go next.
