Bobby Edge continues to lead the one band charge into the evolution and proliferation of punk rock doo wop -and it’s never been better.
Melodic and punk, and a little dysphoric, a song about longing and wanting, full of catchy rhythms and a little shoobie-doo-wop. Whether it’s liking animals that bite, or a desire to destroy everything, daydreaming and fighting, or jamming with some amazing drums and keys, or just harmonizing, “Animals that Bite” feels like home (surprise, motherfucker).
Every time I hear a new Bobby Edge song, I’m transported to a new place. They’re always special and unique, different from any other band, and they seem to mix a level of upbeat and happiness with an underlying anger or sadness, and insecurity- and I can’t explain a better, more natural way to exist in this world. If you can’t find some form of happiness, you’re going to go insane- but if there isn’t a constant underlying anger and sadness, then you aren’t paying attention. Bobby Edge finds a way to encapsulate both feelings in his unique genre of music.
