Ahead of their forthcoming full-length LP, bedbug has released a new track entitled “halo on the interstate”. On this first single the LA-based group offers a somber bedroom pop sandwich.
The top layer is a sparse, lightly toasted arrangement of arpeggio electric guitars, subtle drumming, and softly uttered lines about moving, driving, growing, and reflecting on people once known and once been. This layer helps to contain the meaty, more emotional center of the track that sees drums becoming more bombastic to match the declarative cry for help and understanding in a world that makes little sense. This substantially emotional core is sandwiched by a lovely instrumental segment that is set apart by swelling cellos that offer us a place to contemplate and meditate on our own lives.We are excited to see what other offerings bedbug has to offer on their new album. pack your bags the sun is growing is out Friday, March 15, 2024 on CD, cassette, and digitally.
