Described by the artist as “a confession”, “May to One” — the new tune from Anna Grace Odom — is layered, thoughtful, and earnest.

Only her third single, she wrote it whilst she was in a place where she was feeling like she was letting everyone around her (“family, friends, God, myself”) down. When performed live, she found that people would approach her after her set and tell her what the song meant to them, and how it echoed their own feelings of guilt and shame.

She tells us it was the first time that she’d written a song like that, but having got to know the song over the last few days, it’s not hard to see why it’s resonated.

Full of Phoebe Bridgers-style heart-on-sleeve sentiment and honesty, as well as Wednesday-esque musical dynamics and instrumentation, “May to One” is extremely lovable and compelling.

Musically, it fluctuates between sugar-sweet moments and scathingly sour scorchers. Ambient textures blend with face melting guitar tones and anthemic lyrics to make a song that feels as personal – but also universally relatable – as the feelings and sensations that inspired its creation.

Now signed to Los Angeles label Soliloquy, we reckon the sky’s the limit for this young Nashville songwriter and musician. Take a listen to “May to One” below.
