Single: Ammonite – Feast of Fear

That space between the Election Day and Thanksgiving feels so damn short yet so damn far. Now that people are willing to erase the existence of other family members who dare vote for the peachy and unclean, there will come a wonder of what will be when it comes time to see family the most.

So goes Ammonite’s track, which opens with guitar having an almost rustic and lonely tone and raw vocals of singer Erin Frisby. The topic of said fool of the hour is tackled indirectly while referencing those who follow his gospel. “Running restless and relentless, wolves come bearing gifts and baring teeth/A chance to be a champion for your crumbling king,” sings Frisby of the anger that emits from said related peoples.

The song also, perhaps uncomfortably, asks the big questions: “Can we fell this family tree/Sever the root, the bloodline?” asks Frisby. “Can I change your heart because you will not change your mind?” Frisby wrote this song with Beverley J Stanton about the holidays after the election, and the somberness of it all is much more fitting for our times than any Christmas song that gets constant burn on the radio now.
