URGES is a one-piece Slovak music project based in Trnava making darkwave / post-punk / shoegaze.
We are so happy to share with you his newest EP.
I am so excited to start a new project to showcase local (Eastern European) artists on our label and release them digitally on our Bandcamp page. The first one to be shared is URGES, an artist with colorful discography with plenty of genre crossovers. We recommend you to check out all singles, and EPs and you can do it on the Bandcamp page.
The new EP features a track with vocals by Mishino, another Slovak artist we are planning to release, but on cassette.
The EP is a short, less than 6-minute journey with fuzzy guitars, hazy vocals, and post-punk energy. Patrik aka URGES is still in high school, but at this young age, he is already showing signs of great talent. More music is in the works and I can promise you will want to follow this project because it is going to be great.
In the meantime listen to this amazing EP, check out the URGES’s discography, and just support this young talented musician from the small town of Trnava in the heart of Europe.
I am planning to do a proper interview with URGES, but in the meantime, you can read our short interview with our 3 questions:
What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?
The thing that started it for me was the need for an emotional and creative outlet. Music-wise my biggest inspirations are bands like Sonic Youth, Bauhaus, The Cure, NIN, Placebo, and the quintessential rock icons. What keeps me going alongside the need for an outlet is probably the need to produce something more interesting, and captivating than the last time. Just striving to do something that matters.
What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?
The biggest challenge for me was never really so much about finding the why or what for. What challenges me the most to this day is problems with my inferiority complex bundled up with being in a limbo between genres which I guess isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I kind of like keeping things I make versatile and I guess in the alternative spectrum of things.
What would you dream to do if anything was possible?
Health, prosperity, diversity, and acceptance in the world… but to answer on a more personal note. Anxiety aside, I would love to kick up my live performances, that’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long long time. I could also sit here and list off self-centered dreams with realism left in a gutter but things have a way of working out the way they’re supposed to, right?
