Let’s continue to share more great bands from Philadelphia. This time is the band Mt. Worry, who was recommended to me on Twitter by some pals (cannot remember now who). I was glad because I would probably not came across it on my own. This album is full of gems, really great songwriting, and heavy, powerful shoegaze guitars. This is a type of indie rock I want to see more of.
Like Leor said on Bandcamp: “Like a blanket of fuzz smacking you repeatedly and it feels so good.”
I think this band will release this album or some other future album on some bigger indie label. It is such quality and I would not mind seeing it on my favorite Topshelf Records.
This is definitely the kind of album you do not want to miss now because it can be quite popular later and you will be asking yourself, where you were all the time. For me one of the most interesting albums I have listened to in a while. One of the top this year, for sure. Just dive into this pool of fuzziness with me and swim and be happy.
I have asked Rowan from Mt. Worry our 3 questions and here are the answers:
What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?
We started Mt. Worry with the intention of being a “loud guitar band.” We were all working on our intricate and labor-intensive solo projects, and we wanted a space to make music that was fun and big and loud. I think we keep making this music because we want to find new ways to elevate that sound.
What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?
Because Mt. Worry has no “lead” songwriter, every song is an intensely collaborative process. It’s both challenging and rewarding to arrange every song as a group, and we are continuously learning more about how to compromise with each other and effectively communicate our ideas.
What would you dream to do if anything was possible?
The dream is to be able to make music our lives and our livelihoods. If we were all able to pay our bills by traveling around and playing these songs, I don’t think we could want for much more.
You can support the band on Bandcamp.
