“Late Bloomers is a four-piece pop band hailing from Oxnard, California. Since the group’s formation in 2016, they have had numerous lineup changes, but twee pop and R&B influences remain a constant throughout their discography.
Later Bloomers are here with the energetic self-titled album and I am glad to share it with you. I discovered the band through the second song Tangled Web and it caught my attention. The jangly, twee guitars and fast-paced drums are bringing so much energy. I am enjoying how the album has a nice drive from the first track and it continues. I bet these songs would be amazing live and would bring the same vibes but even stronger. I am really enjoying the drums in these songs. Since the interview with Swiss Portrait I have been paying closer attention to them and can not clearly say if I like some drums or not. Also, as you already know, I am picky about guitars and if I am not liking guitars, I cannot get into a song. This time Late Bloomers made everything right and I am really enjoying this new album from the beginning to the end. If you want to try just one track, Epiphany has a killer outro.
This album was released in May of 2023 and is their 2nd full-length album. It was also pressed on vinyl via Pleasant Valley Records from Oxnard California
I ask Alex from the band our 3 questions:
What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?
We were inspired to make music through the love of music but also by seeing other local bands in our area do their thing.
What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?
The most challenging thing is staying consistent with new ideas and persevering through periods of writer’s block.
What would you dream to do if anything was possible?
A dream of ours would be to have our music become something timeless that is remembered for a long time.
