I have written recently about the single Better Half from this album and I quite enjoyed it. I was really looking forward to hearing this new album in full. The album is released on vinyl through Born Loser Records. It has been a while since I discovered Cathedral Bells and this Orlando-Florida-based project has been on my radar for a while. Their dreamgaze (dreamy shoegaze) has been speaking to me very much. Fast-paced, with great vocals and a lot of energy. The album is full of great tracks that are pretty catchy and you can easily fall in love with the album. It reminds me a little bit of my favorite band Beach Fossils I have been a fan since the start of this blog. I still think that band has shaped my taste the most out of all current indie artists. If you are planning a road trip or taking a long walk, I will recommend you take this album as company with you. You will not regret it.
Definitely, this album will be on my pseudo-list of the best album from 2023 and I will wonder if it will not be the same for you. If you are not familiar with their discography, I recommend you to search through their Bandcamp and Spotify.
I have also thought about what would be my favorite song from the album, but I think I like the whole album equally. Every song has different little nuances that make it special and different from each other. So no skipping, start with the first track.
I have asked Matt from Cathedral Bells our 3 questions.
What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?
I’ve always been into music as an early child. I started playing drums first and got a drum kit in elementary school. I’m always motivated to create music because it’s the one thing I’ve always been passionate about throughout my life. It’s the one thing I always wanted to stick with.
What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?
Not giving up & trying to find my own sound/formula. Also, I’m pretty introverted and don’t make many music connections so it can be hard to find opportunities sometimes without the connections
What would you dream to do if anything was possible?
Would love to play more shows in different regions of the world more frequently!
Support the band and buy vinyl records on Bandcamp.
