Filip’s Quick Single Picks: Gal Musette, Glass Echoes, Michael B Thomas, Majak Door, Ruby Moon

Gal Musette – Moment

“Gal Musette is the artist name used by Grace Freeman, who began writing piano and guitar based lyrical compositions and performing at open mics in her home city of San Clemente, CA at the age of 10. Her graceful approach to melody-driven indie-folk has captured audiences all over Southern California.” Another song from a series of my indie / alt-pop pics to bring you some good pop music for your ears. A catchy, simple melody that takes you to your heart. Exactly what a good pop song should do. You can find more music on Spotify

Glass Echoes – Limona

“In the midst of exploring a variety of musical styles together, Glass Echoes organically turned into the flagship collaboration between Minneapolis-based songwriters Ben Noble and Chris Bartels. With no regard for sonic boundaries, it became a full creative expression for both of them. Each song, rich in layers, has a unique and experimental character, while still embracing a melodic, familiar tone.” Another poppy track I have been enjoying, this time a little bit with more folk vibes, but once again beautiful vocals and a dreamy atmosphere is really something I can get to. Also, the experimental bits are making it even more interesting and captivating. You can find more music on Spotify.

Michael B Thomas – The Moment

I have shared Michael B Thomas’ track before, so this is not a new name for me. Even though I did not enjoy all his recent tracks, there is a new EP you can check out. This laid-back lo-fi / indie rock track is really nice and I can just sit and relax while listening to it. I am quite happy that Leeds has brought us such great artists and I can totally imagine this being part of a movie soundtrack or something. It has a such nice cozy atmosphere. Majak Door – Borderline

“Melbourne based six piece Majak Door hold it down with rainbow soaked reverberated guitar, wavy synths, dreamy vocals, big bass and tight drums. Infuse sly surf-rock, psychedelia and dream pop in a swirl and you’ll get something that resembles the bands sound.” It has been a while since I listened to a good surf rock band and this is definitely one of the good ones. It somehow felt a little bit nostalgic to listen to this one. I remember when I was younger I really dug surf rock, and psychedelic guitar bands and this is a little bit throwback to that days. You can find more music on Spotify.

Ruby Moon – Raiden

Wrapping up these recommendations with “splash of dream pop/shoegaze and sprinkle of indie rock” as the artist says. Somehow I have been enjoying fast-paced drums like the ones in this song. It always gets me pumped and makes me wanna dance to it. A really great way to end this list and get you a little bit energized. What a great debut single from this new artist and you know I love sharing fresh goods. You can start following the artist on Spotify.
