Filip’s Quick Single Picks: Blacktop, sluggo, baseball hat, Lusha

Blacktop – Tommy

“”Tommy” is a soft indie surf rock song that tells the story of an individual with an inflated sense of self-importance. With a blend of jangly guitars, catchy melodies, and a driving rhythm, the song blends genres of indie pop, jazz, and surf rock.” It is summer and we all need some nice summer tracks just to chill and enjoy the hot days. I am loving these beachy, surfy vibes, really catchy melody and a great fit for your summer playlists. You can find more music on Bandcamp or Spotify.

sluggo – Bad Smell

“This is playful and spiteful song about the sentiment between a couple during and after a break up. Whereas the individuals are repulsed and angry but also happy it’s over. It’s me on all instruments and it involves an 80s Billy Joel esque Doo wop acapella. Please enjoy!” I am really liking the lo-fi aesthetics of this song and the retro vibes of the song. A really nice lo-fi pop track that is playful, energetic and the acapella gives it a really nice touch. You can find more music on Spotify.

baseball hat – Don’t Say

“a band from Washington, DC. their lush arrangements and hypnotic textures coupled with their sardonic lyricism and inherent sensitivity create music that is as tongue in cheek as it is earnest.”

“a reflective anthem of hope in the modern hellscape.” If you are enjoying this single, there is a new album out on Bandcamp. Pretty catchy indie folk rock song with some catchy melodies that are quite suitable for the summer vibes. Will definitely give the album a listen and maybe even write about it. You can find more music on Bandcamp or Spotify.

Lusha – arizona

“This song is about the simplicity of love and being drawn to someone. It is angelic, and the perfect song to drive to or just vibe to.” A really nice dreamy bedroom lo-fi pop that can easily work with your eyes closed. You can just let yourself float on the melody and just imagine you are a on a road trip to Arizona to see some great wonders of nature. Maybe it would be living hell right now, but the idea sounds nice.

You can find more music on Spotify.
