“Reluctantly honest” is how Chicago-based artist Nikki Minerva describes their sound in their debut EP “DO YOU SEE ME?”. The six-track project introduces Minerva’s voice with raw vulnerability and emotional depth. The tracklist includes:
- SAFETY BLANKET
- stubborn streak
- YOU’RE GONNA FIND OUT
- all alone / I DESERVE IT
- NONE OF US ARE HAPPY
- oh, oh
Each song explores themes of self-doubt, bad habits, toxic patterns, and personal growth. Minerva doesn’t shy away from confronting uncomfortable truths, using their lyrics to process experiences with drinking, isolation, and self-sabotage. There’s a constant tension between moments of emotional clarity and self-inflicted wounds—delivered with a subtle but compelling intensity.
Two standout tracks are “stubborn streak” and “oh, oh.” Both feature strong instrumentation and rich production that echo the atmospheric textures of Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher album, blending indie rock with intimate singer-songwriter elements. Minerva’s voice drifts between delicate and forceful, always grounded in emotional resonance.
Having just wrapped up their EP release tour, Nikki Minerva is poised for more. Keep an eye out for upcoming performances and future releases—DO YOU SEE ME? is only the beginning of this promising new voice in indie music.
