Album: Sitting Down – Taking Off

Sitting Down create lush and disorienting Psychedelic-Pop songs with just the right amount of grit. Taking notes from Psych Rock, Jazz and Dream-Pop, the Australian based 4 piece blends and bends genres in ways that are experimental and unique, all whilst maintaining clear purpose and direction with each work they create. Their next single “You Don’t Want to be Alone Anymore” sees Sitting Down explore the indie side of their songwriting spectrum with introspective lyrics and jangly guitars. Inspired by great acts in the genre like The Lazy EyesTriptidesKing Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Stereolab – Sitting Down inject their own flavour of psychedelic goodness into each work they create, painting landscapes and creating worlds that exist outside of ours. Currently based on the lands of the Awabakal and Worimi Peoples. (Newcastle, NSW)

My wife has been listening to a lot of psychedelic rock/pop from Australia recently so whenever I receive a submission like that, I am giving a try, even though she did not like this one, I quite enjoyed it. Psychedelic genres are not really my thing, but sometimes I am finding bands that catch me more than others. I really liked their pretty upbeat melodies and can imagine myself being on the coast of Newcastle and just enjoying some ocean vibes. I really like the jangly guitars more present in the You Don’t Want to be Alone Anymore. All songs have something special that will get you and I am glad I can broaden my horizons a little bit with new sounds.
