Here is the bio I found on Spotify:
“Based in Ottawa, August John is an up and coming independent alternative rock band, who’s sound blends hints of psychedelia, alternative, and indie. August John’s members include Jonathan Quach on vocals and guitar, Ada Cavlin B. on bass and Jake Dubeau on drums.
Growing up in Ottawa, front man, Jonathan, was born to a musical family. His father, a hobby musician and sound-man within the Ottawa-Vietnamese music community, bought Jonathan his first guitar at the age of 9. Jonathan began taking lessons from that age, which lasted a year.
His father bought Jonathan a digital 8 Track recorder when he was 15. Jonathan began recording his first songs on this device. Jonathan started writing songs, recording and producing in his bedroom while still in high school. Jonathan eventually studied audio recording in 2022 at Raven Street Studios in Ottawa. He graduated Fall of 2022.
August John’s catalogue includes one full length album called “North American City” and an EP called “2017 EP“, both of which are produced during late 2022 to early 2023. Both albums are released on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp.“
I am so happy to share another new band from Canada, if you follow me, you know why. If you are new to this blog, I have been loving music from Canada and I always loved giving new artists space on this blog. I somehow always connected to Canadian music more. This album and band are no exception and I am happy to share this album with you which has been released in January. Somehow their album feels so honest and easily approachable. If you are a fan of bedroom-produced lo-fi rock, you will love this. These songs are full of great guitar riffs and bring so much energy I can easily connect to. I hope some great cassette label will pick this up and release it.
