Moonheart has many strings to their bow: Musician, artist, filmmaker, and published writer. Their bio description includes the fabulous phrase “cosmic creative consultant”.
Their new single “take a trip” is about a nurturing love which extends across time. It’s about inheriting more than survival – the freedom to bloom.
The ethereal intro feels otherworldly. It’s a dramatic, theatrical sound with a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere.
Effortlessly inviting melodies soar as the tension builds. Layers of vocals are joined by gnarly guitars and – eventually – a crunchy beat. Moonheart’s lightly distorted vocal resonates as it fills the space. It’s slightly blurred and distant, but has unstoppable power.

It’s warm and organic, but with a lo-fi grit that delivers an atmosphere that manages to be huge, yet still intimate.
The story unfolds with a lovely Kate Bush-like tone to the vocal, highly expressive and full of character. The track thunders along until the dreamy outro with its crisp acoustic guitar. This sudden change adds an extra dimension and could be a whole separate tune, but it’s thrown in here like a beautiful afterthought.
Moonheart seems to evolve with every new song. Genre boundaries don’t really seem to be a thing for them, with releases that are very hard to pigeonhole. Each new release is a kaleidoscope of experimentation and expression.
Like gazing at an old photograph and finding stories in every crease and faded detail, “take a trip” really does take you on a journey to somewhere beautiful.
