A cute, curious, wobbly little thing, the new single “All the Little Beings” from Fleur Bleu-E is an exemplary piece of DIY bedroom pop. Between them, the French duo directed the video, wrote the song, played almost all the instruments, and supplied the single’s artwork. All bases covered then.
“All the Little Beings” is essentially a song about the moments before you have to let go of a place that you hold dear. It was written just before the duo left their Parisian flat, where the duo shot the accompanying music video spontaneously during their last moments living there). They say it “tells the story of all those little beings held in the materials of a place: The fish in the sand inside the concrete walls, the trees in the wooden floor, the microscopic life and the rodents, the past tenants.” It’s about the DNA of that special place, the time you spend with it, and the bond that forms.
They say home is where the heart is, or wherever you are – and that much is undeniably true, we would say. But we definitely attach ourselves to the places in which we make our memories. That can’t be helped. This song acts as a soundtrack to that sensation and provides emotional accompaniment to the notion.
Fleur Bleu-E embarks on a US tour in the summer, and their debut album Unrequited Love is due on May 15th via Pan European Recording. Take a listen to “All the Little Beings” below.
