Tradition is a Colorado Springs, CO-based band consisting of Christopher Schmidt, Caden O’Brien, and Devin De Leon. We first introduced them back in March, and they have returned with a new single, Blush, that captures their discontent with today’s political climate. They are blending emo with post-hardcore or post-punk, which results in an emotionally heavy song.
I always love it when music takes a political stance, especially when it rejects politicians who are not serving their constituents. These verses resonate with many people.

I have been really digging their fresh take on emotional post-hardcore that I found quite interesting in the past few months. I have already mentioned that most of the time, when I step down from managing the blog to write something, it is emo music because it channels my feelings well, and I feel like there is still a lot for me to explore and discover. I have to admit I do not have enough listening experience to start comparing the band’s music to other artists, but I have been enjoying the band’s newest single.
The perfect math-rock guitar riffs, punchy drumming, and screaming vocals, mixed with poppy melodic ones, create a mesmerizing, energetic combination that will pull you in and have you get lost in the lyrics expressing all the frustration with today’s politics. Our hope is not in those politicians; we do not need to agree with them. We can shout all those feelings out loud. I have shared the full lyrics below so you can follow along with the song.
