“Greetings From Twin Pine” is a captivating split album featuring two talented bands, Pizza Academy and Narrator, released by the Austin-based label, We’re Trying Records, which has caught my attention a long time. The album consists of six tracks, with three from each band, and they harmoniously complement one another.
Pizza Academy delivers a folky and stripped-down sound that leans into the emotional and introspective realms of emo, while Narrator contributes a more traditional midwest emo style infused with punk influences. This interplay adds a refreshing layer of complexity to the album, making it a rich auditory experience.
Each song is imbued with deep emotions and a sense of melancholy, showcasing brilliant guitar riffs that highlight the exceptional talent of both bands. I was particularly impressed by the distinct approaches each band takes within the emo genre, yet they seamlessly blend together to create a cohesive listening experience.
From the first track to the last, I found myself engrossed in the album, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates this style of music. Be sure to follow both bands on their Spotify pages or consider purchasing the album on Bandcamp. You won’t be disappointed!
