I’ve been following Phantom Sugar’s music since day one, and it’s been an exciting journey. This musical project created by Canadian artist Stevie Zita has truly captivated me, leading me to share all the submissions that have come our way. Up until now, we’ve already featured four singles from his latest EP, so the music isn’t entirely new to me, but I’m thrilled to finally introduce the EP in its entirety.
As I mentioned in my previous coverage, Stevie’s distinct vocal tone is incredibly alluring; it’s a sound that stays with you. I find myself returning to these tracks on repeat, lost in their melodies and lyrical depth. This dreamy indie pop is not just pleasant to listen to; it’s infectious. Although summer has passed in the northern hemisphere, this EP manages to exude a vibrant, fresh, summery energy that feels almost rejuvenating. Labeling it as melancholic, dreamy, simmering indie pop feels fitting, as the tracks evoke a sense of nostalgia while still feeling current and alive.
At times, the music reminds me of The Strokes, but it carries its own identity with a hazy, lo-fi aesthetic that adds to its charm. Each song has its unique flair while maintaining a cohesive sound throughout the EP.
If you haven’t yet delved into Phantom Sugar through my earlier posts, now is the perfect time to explore this project further. The EP is filled with exquisite tracks, each crafted with care and artistry, and I can assure you that you will fall in love with it just as I have. This EP is truly a gem in the indie pop scene that deserves your attention and should not go unnoticed.
