“Lucifer Sunshine is a psych-pop band from Stockholm, effortlessly shifting and bending genres in their own style of dreamy, whimsical psychedelic pop. Their latest single “My Immunity” expands the bands psychedelic path particularly with a Beach Boys via Elephant 6 vibe! “My Immunity” is the first single to promote Lucifer Sunshine upcoming album The Woodland Man & The Sky Theater Show due late 2024.
Since forming in 2020, Alex, Ylva, Jonas and Ludvig began Lucifer Sunshine writing and recording songs together in Alex’s living room. When Olof finally came to join the group they had moved to a studio where they developed their sound. The band name partly comes from inspiration of a song by 60’s psych band Nirvana called “Christopher Lucifer” and the band being fans of baroque and sunshine pop. Armand Jones, the band’s first single, was the catalyst of forming as a real band, to follow with many late nights of experimenting and recording in the studio that eventually led to Lucifer Sunshine’s 2023 debut, Music For The Mind And Body.
“My immunity is a song I wrote in my teens. It’s based on the themes of isolation, dispair and hope. We went for a warm comforting sound on this one with thick harmonies and a church echo/reverb on top of the instruments. The song originally ended in a melancholic outro to suggest a never ending cycle but in this version the song ends on a positive note.” – Alex
Lately, I’ve been exploring different music genres, and despite not typically being a fan of psychedelic music, I came across a new track by a Swedish indie band that has truly captivated me. There’s always been something about Swedish music that resonates with me, so whenever I receive submissions from artists hailing from Sweden, I make sure to pay extra attention. The quote above perfectly captures the essence of the song, so I won’t dwell on that, but I can’t help but express my admiration for the serene and summery vibe of this track. I find that I often tailor my music choices to suit the current season, and this song fits perfectly with my laid-back and sun-soaked summer mood. It even brought to mind the work of my favorite Italian-American band, Baseball Gregg, whom I had the pleasure of collaborating with in the past.
