From the very jump, the low end bass mixed with the calming guitar strums put you into a sense of calm before you even know what hit you. As soon as Lina’s vocals kick in and the glassy keys, and it is almost like the song is meant for you to listen to while melting into your favorite chair. That’s what “Wash Behind Your Ears” will do to you. The song masterfully tiptoes its way into being from melancholic to plain heavy. And it is a song that seems to just be about escaping into the most mundane things, such as taking a warm shower.
“Back” is a much lighter and simpler yet no less emotionally heavy song recalling old memories and how yesterdays never really leaves you. Both songs, while filed underneath the indie folk tag, carry the emotional restraint of a post-rock song, but without the surprise bombast that the genre is known for. In two songs, Lina K.O feels both short and enough to assist you in your deepest feelings at the same time. Hopefully, this will only be a taster of what’s to come.
