Dystopian Novels—hailing from Cork, Ireland—has just released their second ever single titled “Ignored” following their debut “16” both produced by Brian Casey at Wakefield Recordings.
This bittersweet ballad sings of topics of despair and hopelessness while drawing you in with sway-worthy acoustic guitar and a warm tone that one can only assume comes from an analog recording or something adjacent. If you’re a fan of George Harrison’s 1970s album “All Things Must Pass,” you’ll be a fan of this track.
The vocal tones and saturation are also reminiscent of Johan Duncanson of the Swedish dream-pop band The Radio Dept. while the instrumentation carries that melancholy emotion of the popular 70’s folk-rock sound. Another personal favorite element is the lo-fi drums sitting low in the mix. It really draws attention to the lyricism and melody while still creating a full sound.
Needless to say this Irish indie dream pop band is making themselves known in the modern scene by staying true to the classics and they should definitely be on your new music radar.
Ignored is self-released on April 4, 2025
