Single: Swiss Portrait – Next To You

Warm, yearning sounds cure lonely chills in Swiss Portrait’s first single of 2026

I don’t know how the weather’s been where you live, Start-Track reader, but before writing this article, I was walking out of the train station and got blasted in the face by the evil non-stop snow for the umpteenth time this winter. And I thought, “Gee, I sure wish I was back in bed with the love of my life, snuggled under the covers with some snacks and some good music!”

Then I heard Swiss Portrait’s “Next To You”, and it made me feel like I was there.

You may know Swiss Portrait – the project of Scotland’s own Michael Kay Terence – as one of our label artists and dear friends. But it has been a while since we’ve featured one of Swiss Portrait’s dreamy tracks, even though Michael released a handful of singles last year. “Next To You” is the first of 2026, and exudes the warm, yearning sound that fans of the project have come to expect from Michael’s work.

The new single, Michael says, “is about wanting to stay in bed beside the person you love.” The lyrics aren’t fussy at all about it, but still poetic: “First sunlight to meet your face/I want to just fade away/A quick look to meet your face/Before I need to make my way”. The feeling is relatable because even if we do need to get out of bed and act like humans in society, why not keep the image of our love in our heads until we can return to them when the day’s done?

Big fan of this track, and I will have it on my personal playlist of “Songs That Make The Boring Commute Home Through This Awful Weather Worth It”. And bonus: There’s also a music video! Take a look at it down below, where you can also follow Swiss Portrait on the socials.
