‘Another Way’ is the lead single from Stubai’s upcoming debut record, We Were Here, out June 6th. What starts out as a run-of-the-mill jangly indie pop song, a strong nonetheless, ends up as anything of the sort. Inspired by Tao Te Ching, written by Taoist philosopher, Laozi; ‘Another Way’ reaches far beyond the confines of what is expected of bedroom pop, the tracks heads towards it’s conclusion riding the lush waves of an erhu, a traditional Chinese string instrument. It is an unexpected, yet absolutely stunning addition to the song, something that makes complete sense in the soundscape. ‘Another Way’ gets me very excited for the upcoming album, as it should you readers also – I cannot sing it’s praises enough. Stubai is a name that should be on everyone’s minds, an artist breathing newness into a well loved, yet familiar genre.
