“Sheepfighter is a newly formed 3-piece band hailing from the sheep-free concrete oasis of Los Angeles. Made up of 3 LA natives, guitarist Ian White and bassist Robert Lee met 6 years ago playing in a band that rehearsed and recorded tirelessly and never released any music, and are now attempting to set the record straight. The addition of Drew Dunn-Rankin at drums results in a power trio whose sound oscillates between Yuck-esque power pop and My Bloody Valentine style swirly, dreamy bliss.
The upcoming debut singles “Paycheck” and “In the Blue” were written during a period of isolation brought on by the COVID pandemic and both lyrically touch on themes of loneliness, shattered youthful dreams, and bitterness likely familiar and relatable to most who have spent a significant amount of time alone. On a lighter note, the band is currently working on finalizing a full 4-song EP and putting together shows to continue to bring Sheepfighter to the people.”
Fuzzy, indie rock was always something I could enjoy. This is a little bit throwback to 2010s, when I started this blog and I have been digging out music like these two songs from depths of Bandcamp. It feels nice to get back to it and rediscover this yummy sound once again. Definitely listen to both songs, you will not be disappointed.
