Missy, an alternative-rock band based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, released their debut single on June 4th. The band mixes rock and electronic influences into something that flows and feels good to listen to, especially with summer upon us. It’s upbeat and the kind of song that can bring anyone in.
Kage Morehart handles the guitar and vocals, Noah Donald Hoehm plays the electronic aspect with the electric bass, and Jaxon Glover plays the drums. Morehart’s voice is original and unique to the genre, which feels fresh for a debut release. The combination of electronic textures and traditional rock instrumentation creates a sound that feels both modern and familiar.
The single progresses naturally, building as it goes without ever feeling rushed or forced. Lyrically, it’s grounded and perfect. The line towards the end – “You’re the only thing in life that keeps me sane” – lands beautifully, and the instrumentals flow towards the end of the track and serves as a stronger moment, leading to a satisfying conclusion.
Produced by Morehart and Sean Doughtery and mastered by Adam Boose, the single is well put together throughout the entire song. As a debut release, it’s a strong introduction to Missy, and I’m looking forward to their next release.
