Kodaclips is an up-and-coming Italian band that was formed in 2021. The band members come from diverse artistic backgrounds, with influences ranging from psychedelia to stoner and progressive rock, which they expertly blend with 90s vibes and wistful colors. They describe their sound as “italogaze,” a fusion of the second wave of shoegaze with an Italian twist, which I find fascinating as it’s a genre I hadn’t heard of before. They’ve even had the opportunity to share the stage with A Place to Bury Strangers, who recently had a show in Bratislava. Unfortunately, I missed seeing them perform this time as I had just returned from a small festival and felt a bit burnt out from an excess of live music experiences in a short period of time. It seems the older I get, the harder it is to keep up with so many live shows in a month or even a week. I wonder if not running this blog would give me more energy to attend live performances. Sometimes you really have to pick your battles.
Their latest song combines elements of post-punk and shoegaze, and I’m really drawn to this unique blend of genres. The music emits an incredible energy and features some unforgettable riffs that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring. It’s truly exciting to discover such high-quality indie/shoegaze music coming out of Italy, and I’m definitely keen to delve deeper into the “italogaze” genre. I’m eagerly looking forward to what this band will create next, but their latest single already shows immense promise for their future endeavors.
