Fed up with the never-ending rat race that is life? Well, I have just the thing for you. Introducing JOYLESS AS FVCK and their latest single ‘Rivers’. Refusing to be pigeon-holed into a single genre, it switches between shoegaze and hard-core rock throughout the five-minute-long thrill-ride.
It’s certainly a powerful track for sure, filled with shouting vocals and piercing guitar riffs, underpinned by punchy drums that get your heart racing in time to the song. If you like bands including MY BLOODY VALENTINE and DEFTONES, then you’ll absolutely love these young lads.
‘Rivers’ is designed for you to scream your heart out to and during the last two minutes, the instruments do all the talking, think of it as a musical catharsis. Where all the emotions just pour right out of you. It’s always fun when you find a band that speaks to you, manages to perfectly encapsulate what you’re feeling, and these talented musicians do just that.
The ending is my favourite one that I’ve heard in a long time. A comedown from the raucousness of the music, there’s a glitchiness to it before it just cuts out completely, leaving you to reminisce about what’s just happened.
Hailing from Prague but with music that deserves to be listened to all across the globe, JOYLESS AS FVCK are certainly doing something right with ‘Rivers’ and I can’t wait to see where they choose to go next!
