Philly’s own Hit Like A Girl has released two singles ahead of their upcoming album Burning At Both Ends (out March 27th via Cryptid Records). We’ve covered both in all their cathartic, angsty glory; now we bring you the third single, “Are You In Love”, which takes a turn toward the lighter side of romance.
“Are You In Love” still carries the hard-hitting punk sound of Nicolle Maroulis’s songwriting, but takes inspiration from the synth-based jangle pop of the ‘90s, making it fit right in with a soundtrack for a movie with an unfolding love story. It shows the range of lyrical and musical material to come on Burning At Both Ends: Love might be hard (as Maroullis sings on the two previous singles), but not always.
The new single once again shows Hit Like A Girl’s collaborative efforts with other musicians in the punk and emo scenes. Helping Maroullis on vocals for “Are You In Love” is Zayna Youssef, of the fellow Philadelphia emo band Sweet Pill. The intertwining vocals of Youssef and Maroullis go great with the bouncy music, making this track a delight for the ears.
Hit Like A Girl is going on tour to promote Burning At Both Ends through the first half of 2026; those first dates on the US West Coast are coming up. Take a look at the tour itinerary while you listen to “Are You In Love” below.
