George Dillon’s debut single “Beautiful” kicks off with a burst of percussion right at the start, a small detail that sets the tone before the song even gets going. From there it slides into a smooth, intimate groove, with vocals that have a slightly eccentric edge but never lose that close, personal feel.
The lead and backing vocals are where things really shine: layered, hazy, and soaked in reverb and delay in a way that gives the whole song a dreamlike quality. Underneath, the guitars carry most of the weight, driving things forward and giving the track its pulse. The drums hold their own too, though a bit more punch behind them could’ve given the song some extra kick.
The mix is clean and well balanced overall, though the vocals could probably sit a touch louder in the blend so they cut through a bit more. The instrumentation throughout feels genuinely emotional, never overdone, just settling into the song exactly where it needs to.
As a first taste of a new album, it’s a strong opener, dreamy, catchy, and lo-fi in all the right ways, with a hook that sticks after just one listen.
