As a DIY and dream pop lover, this track was right up my alley. drifting. released a single on St. Patrick’s Day called cavehill, which was a great birthday present for me the following day. Hailing from Dublin, the timing of their release felt perfectly poetic. The instrumentation on this track scratches that insufferable brain itch and makes me feel such euphoria. Pair that with authentic and raw lyrics, and you have a new diehard fan in me.
I’m someone who connects with an introspective song, has unique vocals, and uses instruments in a new way that makes me feel THAT FEELING. You know it —the indescribable one that people chase and try to explain when they feel close to a higher power or Spirit or the Universe…if a song checks that box I am all in. This song did that within the first few seconds.
Like drifting. mentioned in their submission, cavehill is “for the hopeless romantics — queer, straight, or anywhere in between — who find beauty in bittersweet moments.” That sentiment translates into this piece of work and gives me confidence that there will always be musicians and art that speak to me and excite me.
This new track, cavehill, is streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. I recommend listening to it during a nighttime drive, in bed before falling asleep, or an evening walk alone to get the full experience. I can’t wait to hear more.
