Single: Don’t Worry – Unbelievable

Another long week in the books means another few days spent gushing over some new tunes.

This week, I dove into the group Don’t Worry, specifically the single titled Unbelievable. According to the artist’s submission, this track “…was written during the first lockdown in 2020. I had been going through a sustained period of feeling uninspired. It was the first song I’d finished in months, and subsequently, it’s about trying to break through that struggle. Musically, it’s inspired by early Beatles and 1960s sunshine pop, deliberately contrasted with the dystopia we were all living through at that time.”

From the first few beats, I feel that sunshine pop vibe bleeding through, a welcome change from some of the more drab things going on in my life lately.

Don’t Worry has a few primary musical inspirations, like Fleetwood Mac, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, and more. As a massive Fleetwood Mac fan, I can sense that undertone in their sound, which makes me love them that much more. When a band can take inspiration and mold it into their own unique sound, that’s a true testament to their dedication to the craft.

This single is full of fun vocal melodies and runs, making it super necessary to sing along (bonus points if you do it in the car). The sparkly guitar riffs sprinkled throughout remind me of some of the Midwest emo or math rock bands I frequently tune in to, making this feel like home in many ways.

Don’t Worry is releasing an album on July 18th through Specialist Subject Records called “Idealism.” Now that we have a taste for it, I’m more than ready to get the whole concept and flavor. Who doesn’t love a slew of songs to consume from an ultra-talented group of musicians?

Stream this single, Unbelievable, now on all platforms, and prepare yourself for this upcoming album release later this summer!
