“CHUCK is the music of Charles Griffin Gibson, an award-winning East Coast-raised American filmmaker living and working in Oslo, Norway. By day he edits documentary films, by night he writes and self-records DIY singer-songwriter oddities. He debuted with the Frog-produced Let’s Make Out EP before debuting for Audio Antihero (Frog / Magana / Nosferatu D2 / Cloud) with the My Band Is A Computer career retrospective. His last album was 2017’s Frankenstein Songs for the Grocery Store, but in 2024 CHUCK has begun to hear the call of the unreleased and obscure songs in his catalogue. The bitter and breezy Indie Pop of “Nothing Matters to Me Now” is the first in a series of releases.
Gibson’s voice, quirks and earnestness have often proved polarising but his undeniably creativity, wit and passion for art in all its forms have made this one-man-band into a cult-favourite who has earned support from the BBC (Gideon Coe / Stephen McCauley), Indie Shuffle, DIY Mag, Post-Trash, The Line of Best Fit, Bedford & Bowery, Drowned in Sound, The Alternative and many more whilst making numerous best-of-the-year lists.“
I came across a fantastic track shared by Audio Antihero, and I can’t stop listening to it! The song is by CHUCK, and it’s an eccentric and energetic indie pop track with a lo-fi feel to it. The upbeat tempo and quirky sound of the song make it an absolute delight to listen to. I find myself hitting the replay button just to fully immerse myself in the energy that this track is exuding. I am eagerly anticipating more releases from CHUCK this year, and I do not doubt that they will be just as impressive as this one. When I come across more of their music, I will be sure to share it with you.
