Bite Me Bambi is constantly paving their own path and doing things very differently than most other bands. They ignore many streaming platforms while focusing much of their music on their Twitch channel, discord, and Patreon. They build a community of fans and listeners and they seem to have a great bond with their community. They are very DIY, and they put a lot of focus into making music videos for almost every song. It was little surprise that the second single for their upcoming album, “Eat This” was released with a video. With Bite Me Bambi, the video feels as much a part of the song as the guitar or the vocals. Each song is incredibly choreographed and the mood of the song is conveyed through the setting and storytelling.
While every Bite Me Bambi song features powerful vocals from lead singer Tahlena Chikami, “Do The Damned” turns it up a notch. The vocals are deeper and powerful, and perfectly match the Rockabilly guitars- another unexpected twist in the song. The vocals perfectly convey the main message of the song about standing your ground, setting boundaries, and not being a people pleaser. The powerful delivery of “I’m Damned if I don’t and damned if I do” is delivered so perfectly that you want to sing along the first time, but regardless of how good or how powerful the vocals are in this track, they will never be able to outshine the rockabilly guitar solo. Girl punk rockabilly ska was not something I thought I needed in my life, but I’ve been wrong before.
Bite Me Bambi’s second album, Eat This is scheduled for release in February. They’ll be touring across the US in November, starting in New York, with half the dates being up and down the west coast. You can find tickets and locations on the band’s website.
