Antlers Motel from Minneapolis, Minnesota bills itself as a freak folk/indie rock band. Their newest single, “Nobody Cares Anymore,” definitely leans heavily into the indie rock aspects of their sound. A melodically strummed acoustic guitar is matched with beefy drums and cymbals. Honestly, as the song progresses, the cymbals almost steal the show. Also, laced throughout the background is a little electronic melody that is entrancing. I found myself just trying to zone in on it exclusively, just to take it in fully. It’s quite nice. The music is slow and slightly melancholy. This pairs well with the lyrics that are about the alienation of modern life and the feeling that you, as an individual, don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. With this new single, Antlers Motel has brought to the table a strong indie rock song that is very relatable in this day and age.
