Last we left with Twink Priest, they broke out one of the wooziest idea to the night, where the lights are as bright as the night is pitch black, and all that occurs are romantically dirty and hazy. From phone numbers written on bathroom walls to swinging lights on the dancefloor to a drum eat that mimics a club rhythm slowed to a crawl, “Nosebleed” musically captured a moment in time.
The band that blends cyberpunk with the haze of chillwave returns with “Slut 4 U”, the skittering single that buzzes like fluorescent lighting, wafts in the breeze like weed smoke, and is a memory of living in a state of temporary infatuation. “Strangers” kicks things up a notch with motorik drums turned to a slightly higher BPM, and the atmosphere of such song mimicking a sense of danger within the darkness.
“Glaucoma”, a more personal and melancholic track, tackles the irritation of dealing with a disability where it is hard to see when one is driving, but is forced to try and live with the difficulty. Think Washed Out via cassette, and you’ll receive the vibes well.
For those looking for an electropop band whose music matches a vibe that is more nocturnal than dark, the Slut 4 U EP is one to hear.
