Sad Honey is the captivating musical project of Canadian artist Sebastian Dal Bello, who recently released their debut EP titled “Mirror in the Sky.” This collection features three distinctive tracks that showcase a diverse range of genres, including shoegaze, lo-fi rock, alternative rock, and indie pop.
The EP opens with an intriguing blend of sleazy indie pop infused with gentle acoustic balladry, gradually transitioning into the immersive sounds of shoegaze, particularly evident in the track “Saturday.” Here, ethereal layers of sound envelop the listener, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. In contrast, “Weightless” leans towards a heavier shoegaze influence, characterized by distorted guitars that resonate with emotional intensity.
The final track, which shares its name with the EP, presents a melancholic alternative or lo-fi rock ballad. It adds a different emotional layer to the collection, enhancing the overall experience with its reflective mood. Throughout the EP, Dal Bello masterfully plays with varying emotional textures and approaches, crafting dreamy indie pop that is delightfully sprinkled with elements from other styles.
